Welcome, folx!
Hey there! My name is Julian Kennedy, and I’m really excited that you found my blog. I’ve been writing for a really long time, and have finally taken the dive into publishing my work.
I wrote my first story when I was nine, and I’ve been writing (especially in my head) ever since. It was for class and when I got a good grade back from my teacher, I realized that a story I wrote could entertain people. (That’s how I interpreted it in my little underdeveloped brain anyway.) I’ve been an avid reader ever since I can remember.
I started with the standard 90’s kid books. Anne of Green Gables, The Boxcar Children, The Babysitters Club, IT. Just kidding. I read IT when I was 13.
Now I’m a writer
So I put two and two together, and voila! My dream of becoming a writer began. Self-publishing has been a JOURNEY, not going to lie. It’s not for the faint of heart. There are a lot of hoops to jump through. It’s a ton of work and it takes the help of so many other people. But it’s all worth it, in the end, to see my name on the cover of a book.
I’ve felt the positive impact of books on my own life, and I know how valuable they can be. Reading has gotten me through a whole mess of mental health issues, and I know that they do the same for other bookworms. I want to give people a sense of escape, emotional freedom, and the ability to see light at the end of the tunnel as it did for me. I want people to read my books and when they’re done feel something strongly, whether it be contentment, suspense, or sadness. Allowing ourselves to feel is so cathartic, and I have cried at many a book. More than one just in a single month sometimes.
And of course, I really wanted to flex my creative muscles during a long pandemic. The past few years have left so many people feeling hopeless, bored, and unfulfilled. And it feels so lovely to finally share my projects with you.

My Novels
Because of that inspiration I got from reading, I have a published trilogy. Those books, The Forgotten Keychains, The Forgotten Prince, and The Forgotten Photograph are available for purchase on Amazon and other digital retailers:
I don’t know how I came up with the idea for the trilogy to begin with. From what I can recall, I just wanted the story to center around an object, one that causes all of the characters’ lives to intersect. This sounds like a joke, but I just used one of those online generators. “Give me a random object!” Seriously. But ssh. Don’t tell anyone.
Then, I thought about the sorts of characters I wanted to create. It’s important to me to represent people of different ethnicities, personal histories, sexualities, and gender identities. I want to create real, true worlds that feel relatable to the people reading my books. Not write 80’s Disney movies, where the princess always gets rescued by the prince, who are both white. There are no princesses in my books.
Info about the rest of The Forgotten Series
As I said, this series is a trilogy. The first book was published in August 2022. I am so sad to see the characters go, but I look forward to creating more with new books in the future.
What else is going to show up on Julian Kennedy’s blog?
I’m currently finished with my first book outside of the series and have two more in the drafting stages. It will have a different feel than The Forgotten Series, but a lot of the same vibes that you’ll grow to love in the first series. It’s almost funny to me how much I’m obsessing about this book that won’t be released until 2026 or later. Ah, a writer’s mind…
Beyond that, I don’t know where my writing career will take me. At the very least, I’ll have four novels for you to enjoy, and I will have fulfilled a childhood dream multiple times over. No matter how many copies I sell, that sounds like the perfect scenario to me.

I’m so inspired by your writing journey. I love reading about writers and how they navigate through their lives as writers. Congratulations on your book. It’s not easy to finally take the bold step of being a published author. My favorite book is Americanah by Chimamanda Adichie. I wish you well.
Hey Ezioma, that’s so kind. It’s been a big internal battle and a matter of finally finding the motivation. And dang, self publishing is hard. LOL. I appreciate the kind words. I have heard so many wonderful things about Americanah. It’s on my list!
