Do you like suspense novels? Then you need to order The Forgotten Keychains. It’s my debut, and you are going to love the characters, the twists, and the ending. Here’s what all the characters have to say…

Why you should order The Forgotten Keychains

Dannie: You should for sure order it. It’s pretty good. I loved it, even though it talks a lot about me, which was awkward, but still, my friend wrote it, so you should read it. Shit. I’m rambling. Can you please tell them, Rosa? I need to lie down.

Rosa: Bet your ass I will. And yes, you started to ramble a bit and it was awkward, but I love you. Anyway, READ THIS BOOK. Seriously. Some wild shit happens, but you’re going to love it. For real though, Dannie, try yoga. Love you.

Ashlin: You need to read this book. Julian is really nice and worked really hard on it. What else? Oh yeah, it’s about my best friend, Dannie, and how they’re just a kick-ass person. Julian wrote a great mystery, and it would be super cool if you read it.

What the book about

Dannie, a real estate photographer, has a relatively unremarkable life. They live in a small apartment in Chicago, spend as much time as possible with their best friend, and have a hopeless crush on a coworker. Dannie drinks too much and has a fairly boring job. It’s not very exciting, even if they sometimes have to deal with unkindness for being nonbinary.

But then, they find something intriguing at a photoshoot for work—a set of keychains.

Dannie doesn’t know why they’re so intrigued by this jobsite discovery, but there’s nothing forgettable about it as the events that follow turn Dannie’s unremarkable life into a nightmare. Disturbing dreams, rising anxiety, an inability to trust their own mind… Maybe it’s all in Dannie’s head. But this murder investigation is bone-chillingly real, and those should-be innocuous keychains? Those are more horrifying than Dannie could ever imagine.

THE FORGOTTEN KEYCHAINS is part 1 of The Forgotten Series. This is an ongoing mystery full of twists, new plot points, and cliffhangers, so the books must be read in chronological order for a satisfying reading experience.

[Trigger warnings for dark content including sexual assault (and references to it), violence, substance abuse, and LGBTQ+ family issues.]

Reader review: “I couldn’t put it down. The characters are so real and relatable and engaging, and every twist and turn along the way had me hooked. I just finished it a few minutes ago, so my adrenaline is pumping as we speak. Such a great first book, and I can’t wait to read the second one (once I catch my breath!)”

For people who find themselves unable to put down creepy psychological thrillers, this is the perfect book for them.

Here’s what early readers had to say

I really enjoyed the character dynamics and how you gave us a lot of insight into each character as you built up the story. I think it was extremely helpful in understanding what value each character brought to the story, as well as helped me connect with the characters and see myself in them.

I found much literary value in this story and felt that it shed light on the fact that the LGBTQ+ community has many traumatizing and often hard-to-imagine situations in life because of the inability to come into their true identities. I’ve read this book at a very interesting and exciting time in life, so it makes me think a little harder about my connection to the community.

This book is too real and good to put down in words… I’m just going to say that you should read it. Like you have to read it. The character dynamics are phenomenal. I’ll be honest this was not what I expected when I started it… But you know what? It’s better than my expectations. Way better. Loved it!

Shraddha

It’s admirable that you discussed addiction and what it’s like for both the person using and their family. It’s a hard topic to talk about, but so many people go through it so I’m sure a lot of people who may be struggling or know someone who is will be able to relate.

I do think this has literary value because of not only the topics mentioned, but because there aren’t enough stories about a queer main character who comes out the other side better despite going through hell. We, just like any other cishet character, deserve to have our stories told too.
